James Milton Johnson
Founder and Chairman
Mr. Johnson is the Founder and Chairman of Johnson Development, LLC, a company engaged in providing real estate services to the healthcare industry including outpatient facility and medical office building development, ownership and management. As Chairman, Mr. Johnson provides oversight and counsel to the Company’s executive leadership team in the overall performance and strategic direction of the Company. In addition, he provides insight and resources to all investment activities.
Mr. Johnson has organized and managed a variety of successful projects and has provided services to a broad range of clients which include: physician/hospital joint ventures, physician partnerships, not-for-profit hospitals and national organizations, for-profit healthcare companies and national and international laboratory companies.
Mr. Johnson is a leader in this specialized industry; he has been active in the financing and development of healthcare real estate for more than 30 years. The value of projects that he has overseen or been responsible for exceeds $1 billion.
Mr. Johnson has served as a Managing General Partner, Limited Partner or President and Chairman of certain corporate general partnerships for more than 50 organizations that own and manage real estate. The majority of such investments are related to Johnson Development or the healthcare industry.
Mr. Johnson graduated from Wofford College in 1971. Prior to the organization of Johnson Development in 1994, he was a Founding Principal of a regional investment banking organization for more than 17 years and a Principal for a predecessor healthcare development firm.
Mr. Johnson serves on the Board of the Birmingham Regional Chamber of Commerce, and serves as Vice-Chairman of the Board of Trustees of Wofford College.
